Doctors En Route:
Our Wilderness Medicine Clinic provides medical personnel/team to accompany a person or group of persons in expeditions, tourism adventures, hunting and other similar activities, to provide medical care and ensure health and safety during such activities.
The cost of a Kilimanjaro trek is $2,450 per doctor and medical kit. Our rates are flexible depending on the nature of the trek e.g., sports events have more risk than usual treks and you can top your price from there.
A doctor will come with his own hiking gear and a tour operator will provide him/them with sleeping bags, a mattress tent, and a porter to carry their kits. The kits they carry include Advanced Cardiac Life support (ACLS), Advanced Traumatic Life Support (ATLS), and a Gamow Bag (Portable hyperbaric chamber) we provide the full checklist and let you verify the equipment prior to the climb. The kits are approximately 15kg for ATLS, 12kg for ACLS and 7 kg for Hyperbaric Chamber.
The equipment and medication carried are enough to serve a whole group and reserve. Please note that the doctors only end at Base camp (Barafu) since anyone who falls sick at the summit will be brought down there for medical care before descending or call for a helicopter if necessary. We’ve never had an emergency with the groups we hike with since doctors perform a medical check and help clients who present even slight signs of sickness.
The price mentioned above includes Pre-climb consultation that is before or after the briefing, we’ll provide doctors to examine and counsel climbers and get them ready for their hike.
For Doctor En Route in remote camps like safaris, the price varies but it is always cheaper than trekking since the risk is low, only the kits change for the bush environment e.g., Snake ant venoms etc.
Pre & Post-Climb Consultations.
Our experts provide medical consultations to mountaineers prior to their climb, getting them ready for their Kilimanjaro Adventure. Clients can come by the clinic or doctors can visit them at hotels or lodges.
Hotel & Home Medical Consultations.
We also offer general medical consultation at the Hotel, Clinic, Home or working areas.
