Be aware

Please be aware that the ride below is for strong intermediate riders only and that each itinerary is subject to change due to the movement of the game and weather conditions.

The routes are designed for the best possibilities of viewing wildlife and follow suitable terrain for horses.

If the itinerary would change prior to the safari, this would only be for the safety and for the benefit of the journey on horseback.

Day 1: Arrival at the farm on the foothill of mount Kilimanjaro.

Arrive at the farm, our starting point for the safari. The 358-acre coffee and horse farm is nestled into the lower slopes of Kilimanjaro.

Your guide will meet you on a treehouse overviewing a waterhole the most enjoyable entertainment with all sorts of wild animals coming, drinking, and splashing in the muddy water.

Lunch will be served and there is some time to relax before you meet your horses and set off on an evening ride.

The scenery of Africa is known from films. Savannah dotted with umbrella acacia trees, with giraffe, zebra, and other wildlife roaming freely.

You will arrive at a place called “Mgunga”, which is the Swahili name for Acacia trees.

Our private mobile camp for the next two nights is waiting for you and our friendly staff will make sure your stay will be a comfortable one.

Day 2: Tracking wildlife

After breakfast in the morning you will start a long ride in this wilderness area, tracking amongst others elephant, zebra, wildebeest and many antelope (Elands, Thomson, Grant, and Impala), occasionally buffalo.

In the noon your lunch will be prepared on a beautiful site with stunning scenery.

The view over rolling grass fields and bush, with Mt. Meru at one side, Mt. Kilimanjaro behind you, and the mountains Longido and Namanga to the other side will make you feel that this is the place where you would like to stay

After a shortstop and a saddle picnic, you will continue towards Meru, passing the original home of the famous "White Huntress" Margarete Trappe.

After a break, you will depart with the Land Cruiser vehicle for an interesting journey into another world to the homestead of a Maasai family.

Get to know cheerful women and children and learn about their daily life. It will be dark when will return to camp, for sure we will meet some nocturnal animals usually not seen during the day

Day 3: Ride towards mount Kilimanjaro

You will wake up with a hearty breakfast in the morning before you start a long morning ride for a spotting game along the western boundary of the reserve.

In addition to the ever-present antelopes, zebras, and gazelles, you will keep an eye out for giraffes, ostriches, warthogs, and maybe a cheetah.

What we really hope for though, is the chance for a peaceful meeting with a herd of magnificent African elephants and we will explore the area of “Tembobridge” to seek out herds in between the euphorbia forest

Do not forget your binoculars and camera. Later you will continue to the southeast passing the plains between Mt. Meru and Mt. Kilimanjaro.

See herd animals watching the horses with interest, have a canter with zebra and eland, then we stop en route for a picnic lunch.

Later afternoon we meet the vehicle and transport horses and guests back to the Farm.

Enjoy the view of Mt. Kilimanjaro while sitting on the veranda with a sunset drink.

Day 4: Last day ride towards mount Kilimanjaro

After a hearty breakfast, there may be enough time to have a look around our farm and learn more about our educational projects.

Maybe you like to join our rescue monkey troop on a bushwalk.

Visit the small rescue station with an ever-changing number of animals, which are here because they were found orphaned, injured, or have unwillingly lost their habitat.

There will be a day room available for you, so you can shower and relax before your departure.

This is where your safari comes to an end and you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport to board your home flight.
